Check out the mural on Rick & Nancy Townson's Laundrymat & Hair Enchantment building, on the Ripley Street side and visible from Broadway. The mural, funded by a grant to the Manzano Mountain Arts Council and painted by local artists and community volunteers, under the direction and inspiration of Wray and Shirley Simmons, was officially dedicated by the Mayor on July 1, 2006, for Jubilee. Dedicated as "Looking Back," the mural features a train coming through Abo Pass, firefighting, and the townof Mountainair. Look for other murals, outdoor and indoor, about town.

Other area sight in town or nearby include the National Park Service (NPS) Visitors Center for the Salinas Pueblo Mission ruins, the historic Shaffer Hotel at Main & NM Hwy 55, Gordon McMath's metal "critters" on 3rd Street (parallel to Main) behind the Shaffer Hotel, and Rancho Bonito (another Pop Shaffer
Wild Art architectural and design treat) on Hwy 55.
